Environmental toxins can influence fertility in both women and men. Metals and chemicals in the air, water, food, beauty aids, etc. cause anovulation and lower implantation rates in women, and decreased sperm count in men. Endocrine disruptors are one of the major environmental factors contributing to infertility. These include BPA, DDT (illegal in the United States, but residues may remain in the environment), dioxins, heavy metals, and phthalates. Overexposure to industrial chemicals, pesticides, high temperatures (sperm quality/production) and radiation also reduce fertility.
