Embryo Transfer

The transfer, also referred to as FET (frozen embryo transfer) or ET (fresh embryo transfer), is the last step in the IVF process, and it is critical that the woman has a properly developed endometrial lining for implantation to take place. It is also important that the doctor practices appropriate embryo transfer technique by delicately placing the embryo in the middle or upper portion of the uterine cavity with little trauma/manipulation to the lining. Implantation should take place 1-2 days post-transfer but can take up to 5 days. It is recommended to avoid strenuous activities and sexual intercourse for 1-2 days after your transfer as it can cause uterine contractions which could disrupt implantation.
